1Subió Moisés de los campos de Moab al monte Nebo, a la cumbre del Pisga, que está enfrente de Jericó; y le mostró Jehová toda la tierra de Galaad hasta Dan,

2todo Neftalí, y la tierra de Efraín y de Manasés, toda la tierra de Judá hasta el mar occidental;

3el Neguev, y la llanura, la vega de Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, hasta Zoar.

4Y le dijo Jehová: Esta es la tierra de que juré a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, diciendo: A tu descendencia la daré. Te he permitido verla con tus ojos, mas no pasarás allá.

5Y murió allí Moisés siervo de Jehová, en la tierra de Moab, conforme al dicho de Jehová.

6Y lo enterró en el valle, en la tierra de Moab, enfrente de Bet-peor; y ninguno conoce el lugar de su sepultura hasta hoy.

7Era Moisés de edad de ciento veinte años cuando murió; sus ojos nunca se oscurecieron, ni perdió su vigor.

10Y nunca más se levantó profeta en Israel como Moisés, a quien haya conocido Jehová cara a cara;

11nadie como él en todas las señales y prodigios que Jehová le envió a hacer en tierra de Egipto, a Faraón y a todos sus siervos y a toda su tierra,

12y en el gran poder y en los hechos grandiosos y terribles que Moisés hizo a la vista de todo Israel.

34:1-12 Moses fell short of entry into the land of promise (see study note on 32:51), but God did permit him to share a moment of glory in the land at Jesus’ transfiguration (Luke 9:28-36). 34:1 Mount Nebo is a high elevation in the Abarim hills east of the Jordan River. Virtually the whole land west of the Jordan can be seen from this vantage point (32:49). • Nebo was part of Pisgah Peak (see study note on 3:17). • Gilead as far as Dan was the northernmost part of the land. The Sea of Galilee and Mount Hermon lie straight north from Nebo. Gilead is just east of the sea, and Dan (Laish; Judg 18:29) was south and west of Hermon.

Zoar was a city of the plain that was not destroyed in the days of Abraham and Lot (see Gen 19:21-22, 30).

Aaron and Miriam once challenged Moses’ leadership and were severely rebuked by the Lord (Num 12:8), who reminded them that they were ordinary prophets that received revelation by dreams and visions. Moses was not such a prophet. God said, “I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles” (Num 12:8). No other prophet in Old Testament times could rival Moses in his relationship with God (see study note on Deut 18:15).
