1¿Por qué estás lejos, oh Jehová, Y te escondes en el tiempo de la tribulación?

2Con arrogancia el malo persigue al pobre; Será atrapado en los artificios que ha ideado.

3Porque el malo se jacta del deseo de su alma, Bendice al codicioso, y desprecia a Jehová.

4El malo, por la altivez de su rostro, no busca a Dios; No hay Dios en ninguno de sus pensamientos.

5Sus caminos son torcidos en todo tiempo; Tus juicios los tiene muy lejos de su vista; A todos sus adversarios desprecia.

6Dice en su corazón: No seré movido jamás; Nunca me alcanzará el infortunio.

7Llena está su boca de maldición, y de engaños y fraude; Debajo de su lengua hay vejación y maldad.

8Se sienta en acecho cerca de las aldeas; En escondrijos mata al inocente. Sus ojos están acechando al desvalido;

9Acecha en oculto, como el león desde su cueva; Acecha para arrebatar al pobre; Arrebata al pobre trayéndolo a su red.

11Dice en su corazón: Dios ha olvidado; Ha encubierto su rostro; nunca lo verá.

The malignity and deceit (Psa 140:3) of such are followed by acts combining cunning, fraud, and violence (compare Pro 1:11, Pro 1:18), aptly illustrated by the habits of the lion, and of hunters taking their prey. "Poor," in Psa 10:8, Psa 10:10, Psa 10:14, represents a word peculiar to this Psalm, meaning the sad or sorrowful; in Psa 10:9, as usual, it means the pious or meek sufferer.
